Desire & Deceit (Lecture #2)

Within the lecture of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams I enjoyed honing in on the characteristics within Blanche. Although on the exterior she seems to have her life put together, through the text we can see she is insecure, and sensitive. We spoke upon the idea of the facade, Blanche puts on a "mask" and acts as if her life is extremely perfect although she is suffering within her own losses and her need to be wanted and appreciated by others. This relates to many real life situations I have known. Unfortunately most people who choose to put on an act are completely transparent and it becomes obvious that they believe their own lies. All these people, including Blanche, look for verification and more justification of the self.
